Lucid new icons :)

I love the new icons but one thing struck me. Have a look at this picture

Everything else monochrome and nice but the map blue and the clock purple and the house red. Great icons though :)

You forgot the volume icon. It like they forgot to change it…

Why is there GMT time and not UTC time?

Volume icon does look a bit gross.

Actually the stand out icon is the volume control. It appears to be from a completely different icon set. Its pretty fugly really.

Hmmm looking at it I liked the one from karmic better than the new one.

That volume icon is not the one designed for the panel, if you look in the icons folder there are a lot of volume-*-panel monochrome files, that means lucid is going to ship with a patched gnome-panel that looks for *-panel icons and use them with higher priority.

Actually they arent shipping a patched gnome panel they are shipping the application indicators which arent in the notification area.

With Compiz, you can apply a colour filter to just your panel and set saturation all the way to 0.

Thats a bit of a hacky solution. I would prefer that the color match the theme.

  7. Firefox 3.6GNU/Linux

how do you do that saturation thing with compiz?
