I was at the talk at the ubuntu developer summit and I went looking for any computers available with an ARM processor. I failed badly, there were a 4 netbooks at that plenary the sharp one (only available in japan) which looks awesome BTW and the 2 pegatron ones and the one that was just a board.
At the moment intel atom is ok but would it be better than the same processors as phones? I think it could be awesome.
As a developer I want one so I can have some fun playing about with it and seeing where the technology is at. So id love to be able to get one but its bad when there are none available.
Its great that the manufacturers are working with canonical to make ARM well supported on ubuntu though.

There is the touch book from always innovating
Could you give me a link?
http://www.alwaysinnovating.com/touchbook/
Thanks ill give it a look.
+1 for touchbook. If I hadn’t got a pretty ok atom netbook at the moment, I’d definitely go for it. But now as it is, I have some time to see what other ARM netbooks there will be as well.
Would working on the N900 / Maemo 5 not give you the ARM-centric hacking experience you are after?
Well im just interested in the low power netbooks. Although Maemo 5 is really interesting.
Am I crack smoking or did I see some of these laptops at UDS?
They had them but they arent available they were just proof of concept ones. The only one on the market is the sharp one and thats only available in japan.

What about openpandora?

Wow that looks ugly and it has a lot less then the sharp netwalker it seems.
Hey! That’s funny it’s looks like a Nintendo DS!
Could become a good Open Source gaming device but I will not use it as a netbook. The screen is too small for that.
Well the sharp netwalker is 5 inches and has hd graphics and its touch screen. That would make an awesome gaming device.
It’s still hard to find ARM netbooks. Maybe this explains it:

Found one for you. it’s called the CT-PC89E. a brave group of 15 or so debian developers bought one each:

try this:

15 brave debian souls bought one: we’re just taking a look at it (follow links to mailing list)
The Touchbook is massively overpriced. I’m waiting for something better at a lower price.
