Why doesn't compiz like my computer

I recently got a new computer. Its nice a lot better than my old one. The problem is I have a nvidia graphics card. I have ubuntu 9.04. Im a fan of compiz it adds something flashy to the relatively unflashy world of gnu/linux.

My problem is I cant enable compiz, Even with the new relatively good graphics card and it annoys me.

I found a work around to enable it but then when I open a folder using Nautilus X crashes. It doesnt set off apport but it crashes none the less.

Maybe its a driver problem, maybe its a xorg problem or maybe its compiz.

Id love to fix it but I dont really know where to start, I just hope that it gets sorted out in 9.10.
Update: I fixed it. Metacity was enabled thats why compiz couldnt be enabled.

The open source Nvidia driver included with most distros can’t handle Compiz. You need the proprietary driver. I believe there is a way to install it in Ubuntu, do a search on Google. Then you should be able to use Compiz.

OK sorry then I can’t offer any other suggestions for Ubuntu. If you were using Fedora I could direct you to a couple of useful threads on the forums. Maybe a search of the Ubuntu forums may bring up something.
